Today’s Promise is Romans 16:20 NKJV:
“And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.”
Devotion:
Now, there’s a promise I can live with. Notice Paul specifically says “the God of peace.” Just before he makes this promise, Paul is warning faithful followers to be on guard for “those who cause divisions and offenses” within the body. We know them as drama queens, though they’re not always women. The enemy loves to use these malcontents to draw focus away from God and prevent the unity in the body that brings the power of the Holy Spirit.
“A house divided against itself cannot stand.”
This spirit of division only has power when it has an audience. Therefore, Paul says avoid them, for they do not serve the Lord. When they cannot find a sympathetic ear–or better yet, when they are rebuked–these spirits will soon move on seeking new prey. The God of peace will have used you to crush the enemy at the gate, and peace will reign, unifying in the Body of Christ, to the glory of God.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, open our eyes to the workings of the enemy in our midst and let us stand boldly against him in the name of Jesus! Bind us together in Your love, oh Lord, that we might glorify You. Amen.
