Promise of the Day: Sharing God’s Heart

The Pliable Heart

Blessings!

Today’s Promise is Lamentations 3:25, 26 CJB:

Adonai is good to those waiting for him,
to those who are seeking him out.
It is good to wait patiently
for the saving help of Adonai.

Devotion:

What is so extraordinary about this promise is that Jeremiah has just poured out his heart in the preceding verses concerning all the suffering he has seen and experienced. Yet, he proclaims God’s goodness and trustworthiness. He then goes on to proclaim that everything that happens is by the hand of God, good or bad, and that God does nothing arbitrarily. There is purpose and design in everything God does in our lives. That is faith. That is the difference between knowing about God and knowing God. Jeremiah’s burden was heavy because He was privileged to share a small piece of God’s own heart, and in doing so, was able to feel just a small part of the love God has for His people. When we get to know God to the point that we share God’s heart, we will no longer struggle with His sovereignty. We will be able to say unapologetically, “The Lord gives and the Lord takes away. Blessed be the Name of the Lord.” We will finally know peace.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for sharing Your heart with me, that I may proclaim Your faithfulness in all things. Thank You for showing me what to pray for and how to pray for it, and thank You for comforting me through Your Holy Spirit, when my heart also breaks for those You love. Amen.

Have a victorious day in the Lord!
