Children are a heritage from the Lord,
offspring a reward from him.
Like arrows in the hands of a warrior

As I write this, the U.S. Supreme Court is hearing arguments for the most significant abortion cases in our nation’s history since Roe vs Wade. In 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the right of a woman to kill her child over the right of a defenseless child to live, changing the trajectory of the United States and setting us on the path of Godly judgement.
I clearly remember the day I learned that abortion was “legalized” in my country. As the case was being heard, I was convinced that such an atrocity could never happen in the U.S. We were, after all, “one nation under God, with liberty and justice for all.” And now, that liberty and justice was going to be denied to our unborn. Even as a child, I felt God’s heart break, and I knew our nation was in deep trouble. We had just turned our backs on God.
The Parallel
As I grew older and studied more of the Bible, I came to understand that abortion is the equivalent of child sacrifice, since these murders were being committed in the name of personal freedom and convenience, in order that people could further rebel against God by committing adultery and fornicating freely without the “inconvenience” of children, the very reason for which the act of sex was created. In other words, people pay for a more agreeable lifestyle with the blood of their own children.
Child sacrifice (abortion) is another perversion of God’s plan of redemption, as He sacrificed His only Son to gain eternal life. Not for Himself, for He is already eternal, but for those who believe. His sacrifice was for us, not for Him.
The Destruction of Mankind
Jesus warned us of Satan’s desire to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). Child sacrifice (abortion) achieves all these goals. Another religious rite in the worship of Baal (Satan), was men and women engaging in sodomy with the priests. Homosexuality is the perversion of the family unit as God ordained it, further decimating the the population of those created in God’s likeness. God has given us the gift of creating new life, the blessing and crowning glory of the institution of marriage between one man and one woman. Abortion and homosexuality rob us of this blessing and inheritance.
The Payoff
Why would human beings eagerly participate in their own destruction? Convenience doesn’t seem all that great a motivation to not only encourage but demand the perpetuation of mass destruction. But, wealth is. Both sodomy and child sacrifice were practiced to insure financial prosperity. Today, abortion is a multi-billion-dollar industry.
The Real Price
When people disregard God’s order, serving their own selfish desires instead, they get tunnel vision and fail to see the big picture. Without fail, every world power in history, including Israel and Judah who practiced child sacrifice and homosexuality were judged and ultimately destroyed by God.
“Hear the word of the Lord, you kings of Judah and people of Jerusalem. This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Listen! I am going to bring a disaster on this place that will make the ears of everyone who hears of it tingle. For they have forsaken me and made this a place of foreign gods; they have burned incense in it to gods that neither they nor their ancestors nor the kings of Judah ever knew, and they have filled this place with the blood of the innocent. They have built the high places of Baal to burn their children in the fire as offerings to Baal—something I did not command or mention, nor did it enter my mind. So beware, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when people will no longer call this place Topheth (place of fire) or the Valley of Ben Hinnom (lamentation), but the Valley of Slaughter” – Jeremiah 19:3-6 NIV
Our God made it very clear that all human life is sacred when He commanded His people,
“Do not murder” –Exodus 20:13 CJB
But today, as in Jeremiah’s time, God always sends a warning. A call to return to Him. The United States has received quite a few of these harbingers, from terrorist attacks, to man-made pandemic, to a stolen election. God is long-suffering, but I have to wonder when His patience with us will run out.
Where is God?
Many Christians today are wondering where God is in all the madness we are experiencing. I’ll tell you where He is. He is in His Heaven as He has always been, and He is waiting. Waiting to hear from His people.
It is no coincidence that these hearings are taking place during a Shemitah (Sabbath) year. This year will decide whether our nation is blessed or is judged and punished. If you’ve been following my articles on the coming judgement, you know it will not be pretty, though it will be righteous.
But I believe God wants to redeem us. I believe He is merciful and long suffering. And I believe that,
“if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land” – 2 Chronicles 7:14.

If so, I ask you to fast and pray with me to forgive our grievous sins against God and put an end to “legalized” abortion in our nation.
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
The United States of America is a nation that was dedicated to You from its origin. But we have strayed so far from you, just as Your people have in the past. We have become so confident in our own abilities that we have forgotten that everything we have, we have received from You. We have murdered Your children and desecrated your holy institution of marriage.
Lord, we as Your Chosen people, repent on behalf of this nation. We ask for your mercy for Your Namesake. Invade the Supreme Court with Your Spirit, o Lord, and open the eyes of the blind to Your Truth. Set your angels over all who fight to uphold Your Righteousness and protect them from the enemy. We plead the blood of Jesus Christ over the United States of America, and we bind and rebuke the spirit of abortion, in Jesus’ mighty name, and cut it off at its roots. We cry out to You, Lord, to save our children and restore our nation to You, that You might once more bless us and be our God.
We declare and decree Your glory and wisdom to every power and principality in our nation and we give You all the glory, and honor, and praise. in Jesus’ mighty name! Amen! And, Amen!
