Blessings Friends!

One word has dominated my thoughts during this season, and that word is light.

After creating the heavens and the earth, the first thing Elohim gave it was light. In the Hebrew, ‘or, more precisely meaning illumination.

“Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.” Genesis 1:3

This says so much about the nature and purpose of our Creator, the source of all light and revelation. He reveals even more of His nature in His next act, separating the light from the darkness. He didn’t determine that we whom He had yet to create in His own likeness should be dominated by the light, but that we would be given a choice—live in the light, or walk in darkness. Just as in the wilderness, the pillar stood between the Israelites and the Egyptian army, simultaneously showing light to God’s people, and cloaking their enemies in darkness (Exodus 14:20).

He even set the sun in the sky to remind us that there is only one source of life-giving light and warmth, and the moon to remind us that even in the dark of night the light is with us, not by our own doing, but because we reflect the One True Light.

It was the lights Elohim set in the heavens for signs and seasons, that declared the coming of the Light of the World to those who watched and waited:

“In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” John 1:4, 5

“Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” John 8:12

And, when The Light of the World took His rightful place at the right hand of God, He sent another Light to dwell not with us, but in us:

“Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” Acts 2:3, 4

Even this was foreshadowed by the seven lamps in the Tabernacle (Numbers 8:2).

It is from this Light within us that we are to live and affect the world around us. It is this Light that change the atmosphere. That brings Heaven to Earth.

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16

Several weeks ago, I dreamed that I was home at night with my young daughter, when we heard a woman call for help outside. Our first instinct was to dash out the door to her rescue…but as soon as we left the house, I knew there was a deadly enemy waiting for us in the darkness, trying to lure us out with cries of help. We hustled back into the house, shutting and locking the door behind us. Inside, the house was bright and warm and we began to rejoice in that.

I then became aware that the curtains on a large picture window were open, and decided I didn’t want the enemy looking in at us. So, I pulled them closed. I had no more done that, when I turned and saw that the door I had locked was standing wide open. Frightened, I ran back to the door, but it took all my strength to close it again, and I began to pray in tongues against the enemy. That was when I realized the enemy had been sitting on the front porch the whole time and had never made a move for the door!

As I prayed for understanding over the next few days, The Lord showed me what this all meant. The house was me, filled with His light. As soon as I left the light and moved out under my own understanding and authority, I became vulnerable to the enemy. Only when I remained in the light was I safe. But, I also shut my curtain, preventing the light from penetrating the darkness—as in “hiding my light under a bushel.” That opened the door. But the greatest part was that even with the door wide open, the light inside was so bright, the enemy didn’t dare come in!

This is the word of The Lord to those called to be His light in the darkness:

“Remain in The Light! Do not take matters into your own hands, regardless of what you see, hear, or feel. I have given you all you need by My Spirit in you. Remain in My Light and I will shine through you in all My power and glory! Worship Me without ceasing and stir up the fire I have put within you!

For they did not gain possession of the land by their own sword, Nor did their own arm save them; But it was Your right hand, Your arm, and the light of Your countenance, Because You favored them.” Psalm 44:3

God is doing a wonderful thing in this season! But the enemy doesn’t want you to be a part of it. The enemy wants to lure you out of the safety and power of the Light, by tempting you to move according to your understanding. Don’t fall for it. Remain in the Light and trust The Lord to accomplish His will by His presence in you. The Father wants to take us to a whole new level of faith, that His glory may be made full in His Body, the Ekklesia.

I don’t know about you, but I am praising His Name, that He has called me for such a time as this! How great is The Father’s love toward us, that He would dwell in us and fill us with His Holy Light!

“Arise, shine;
For your light has come!
And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.
For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth,
And deep darkness the people;
But the Lord will arise over you,
And His glory will be seen upon you.”
Isaiah 60:1, 2
