Promise of the Day: A Branch is Not the Vine

A Branch is not the Vine

Blessings!

Today’s Promise is John 15:5 NKJV:

“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.”

A Branch is not the Vine

Devotion:

Sometimes, when we get a taste of the freedom purchased for us by Christ, we want to run right out and get to work for God. It reminds me of when my kids were toddlers and they’d declare, “Me do me self!” They so wanted to prove how helpful they were. But, as with a strong-willed toddler, this attitude can result in frustration, discouragement, and even danger for Christians. It is Christ who gives us our direction and then the power to do as He wills, through the Holy Spirit. Although we may be filled with great ideas and self-confidence, Christ has been made the head of His body, and he alone is capable of causing us to function effectively, gracefully, and gloriously. We must learn to wait on Him, hear His direction, and go forth in His power. What is Jesus telling you today?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, teach me to wait on You instead of charging ahead, in Jesus’ name. Only You know my purpose. Only You can prepare and equip me for that purpose. Help me to wait on You and bring me in line with Your will, Lord, that I may glorify You on earth as You are in Heaven. Amen.

Have a victorious day in the Lord!
