Today’s Promise is Luke 10:19 CJB:
“Remember, I have given you authority; so you can trample down snakes and scorpions, indeed, all the Enemy’s forces; and you will remain completely unharmed.”
Devotion:
Jesus said this. It is a reality. When Jesus gave us the authority to trample all the enemy forces, it wasn’t so we could sit on our hands and wait for Him to come back and save us. He already did that. Authority must be seized and acted upon to have any effect. Parents have God-given authority over their families, but if they don’t set and enforce boundaries, no one will recognize or respect them or their position of authority. They will become nothing more than a joke. This is true of any leader. In the case of God’s Kingdom, this authority has been given to us in order to take back what the enemy took from Adam, and establish God’s Kingdom on earth. It requires us to know the One who gave us this authority, to take the tools He gives us to establish and maintain authority, and to learn to use these tools through faithful obedience. If we don’t honor our God-given authority, the enemy certainly won’t! He will treat us like the seven sons of the chief priest in Acts 19:14-16.
His authority is one of the talents our Master gave us before He left. What are you doing with yours? Are you using it to increase His Kingdom, or burying it in the ground and living like a victim? Be sure He will ask you when He returns. If you have any doubts about the authority Jesus has given you, spend some time with Him, ask Him. He will show you who you are in Him, and He will give you the faith to walk in authority.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I believe Jesus gave me His authority over all the enemy forces. Please, grant me the faith to walk in the truth of Your authority, in Jesus’ name. Grant me discernment to know how and when to stand against the enemy and the boldness to do just that. Help me take back what the enemy has taken and establish Your Kingdom on earth. Amen.
Have a victorious day in the Lord!
