Today’s Promise is 1 John 5:4 NKJV:
“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.”
Devotion:
When we receive Christ as our Savior, God burns our old birth certificate and pens a brand new one with the blood of His Son. We are now the kids of the Conquering King. Why then do so many Christians still walk in defeat? I believe it’s lack of faith. Not a lack of faith in God’s ability–He has proven Himself consistently throughout the ages. I believe we get hung up on the fact that we don’t deserve His favor. And we don’t–that’s what grace means. God gives us the Spirit of Adoption, or Sonship, because He loves us, but the spirit of bondage to fear will rob us of our new identity if we allow him to. If you struggle with faith, come against the spirit of fear by declaring the truth–Romans 8:15. Begin to see yourself through the eyes of your Father and take hold of your victory in Him.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, You are my victory! All that I was is dead and buried, and I am alive and brand new in You! I bind and rebuke the spirit of bondage to fear, for he is a liar! I carry Your DNA, Father, not because I deserve it but because You love me! I receive Your love! I receive all You have stored up for me, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
