Blessings!
Today’s Promise is 1 Peter 5:5 CJB:
“Likewise, you who are less experienced, submit to leaders. Further, all of you should clothe yourselves in humility toward one another, because God opposes the arrogant, but to the humble he gives grace.”
Devotion:
Peter actually addresses the leaders in the church concerning humility, first. Many church leaders have fallen in disgrace and many ministries have been destroyed by the spirit of pride. Whether we are leaders or students, we must always remember that all knowledge, wisdom, gifts, and abilities belong to and are given by God, by His grace. Whatever our position in the Church, we are to follow the example of Christ, who, even though He was God’s own Son and the Head of the Church, humbled himself even to the cross, putting His Father’s will above His own. It should be a joy to both teach and learn how to grow closer to God, and it is this joy that fuels the Church and keeps us in that serving mindset, living as examples of God’s love, just as our Savior before us.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I bind and rebuke the spirit of pride in the mighty name of Jesus! I purpose and choose this day to submit fully to You, first, and then to those You sent me to serve. Help me always to remember that it is Your grace that enables me to do what I do, and that I don’t need to lift myself up, because You will do it in due time. Amen.
Have a victorious day in the Lord!
Rebecca
