Blessings!
Today’s Promise is Psalm 1:1-3 CJB:
How blessed are those
who reject the advice of the wicked,
don’t stand on the way of sinners
or sit where scoffers sit!
Their delight
is in Adonai’s Torah;
on his Torah they meditate
day and night.
They are like trees planted by streams —
they bear their fruit in season,
their leaves never wither,
everything they do succeeds.
Devotion
Many believers equate the word “wicked” with things like idolatry, murder, infidelity, etc. But, to God, gossip and slander are every bit as evil, because speaking ill of another person can destroy them, in spirit and in reputation. What’s worse, it draws demons like a magnet, giving them legal right to afflict not only those speaking evil, but those listening! When we meditate on God’s Word and stay far from people who practice wickedness, refusing to participate in the destruction of others, we are safe from demonic influence and affliction. Instead, we walk in safety and enjoy the abundance of God’s blessing. We will bear our fruit in season, our leaves will never wither…and everything we do will succeed.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, keep me ever mindful of the power in my tongue, and let me be filled with grief by unholy speech about others. Whether they are believers or not, they are created in Your image and to denigrate them is to denigrate You. Instead, let me fill my mind with Your Word, in Jesus’ name, that, when temptation comes, I may remember that I am acting and speaking on Your behalf. Amen.
Have a victorious day in the Lord!
