Today’s Promise is 2 Chronicles 15:7 NKJV:
“But you, be strong and do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded!”
Devotion:
I love the Complete Jewish Bible’s translation: “But you, be strong and don’t slack off!” When those words were spoken to Asa, this “work” was a complete re-dedication to God, and the elimination of anything competing with Him. That hasn’t changed. But Asa could only hope to have God abide with him. Now, because of the sacrifice of Christ, when we give God first place in our lives, His presence abides in us. The Holy Spirit not only gives us direction, but also the strength to follow through. The only real work required on our part is making a conscious choice to seek God above all else.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for being my strength! Help me keep my focused on You, in Jesus’ name, that I might remain in the flow of Your blessing. Amen.
