Blessings!
Today’s Promise is Hebrews 4:12 NKJV:
“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
Devotion:
I used to think about God’s enemies when I read this verse. Then I got to know God a little better, and realized–this is for me. God’s Word is the scalpel in the hand of the Master Surgeon, cutting away my hidden sin, my pretense, my self-righteousness . . . and everything else that comes between me and my Father.
When I had a tumor growing out of my sacral nerve root, I was not excited about having surgery. I knew it would hurt, recovery would be slow and painful, and I was told it would leave me partially paralyzed. But I also knew that if the tumor didn’t come out, it would probably kill me. I had to surrender to the scalpel to live. So it is with the Word. Merely reading it won’t save anyone. It’s when we lay down on the operating table and say, “Have Your will in me, oh Lord,” that true healing and transformation begin.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, Master Surgeon, please help me surrender my heart to your scalpel, in Jesus’ name, that I might truly live. Amen.
Have a victorious day in the Lord!
Rebecca
