Promise of the Day: Getting Low

Reviled and Blessed

Blessings!

Today’s Promise is James 4:10 NKJV:

“Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.”

Reviled and Blessed

Devotion:

Humility comes naturally in the presence of the Lord. His glory and love are overwhelming. Being humble in the presence of…less glorious and loving people requires a conscious choice. Jesus made this choice daily, and He was indeed lifted up–to sit at the right hand of God. But first, He was lifted up on the Cross, the ultimate act of humility. He didn’t seek the praise and adoration of people, but only to please His Father. Though He was the Son of God, His heart was that of a servant. Serving not out of obligation, but out of love. The knowledge that Jesus washed His disciples’ feet, and then willingly went to the cross in my place makes the choice of humility easier for me. If the Son of God could wash the feet of sinners, who am I to do anything less?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, help me, in Jesus’ name, to be a servant to others as Jesus was, putting Your will before my pride, that others might come to know and love You, the greatest reward of all. Amen.

Have a victorious day in the Lord!
