Today’s Promise is 1 Corinthians 1:27-31 CJB:
“But God chose what the world considers nonsense in order to shame the wise; God chose what the world considers weak in order to shame the strong; and God chose what the world looks down on as common or regards as nothing in order to bring to nothing what the world considers important; so that no one should boast before God. It is his doing that you are united with the Messiah Yeshua. He has become wisdom for us from God, and righteousness and holiness and redemption as well! Therefore — as the Tanakh says — ‘Let anyone who wants to boast, boast about Adonai.‘”
Devotion:
Maybe you can relate to this. When the Lord called me to found Watch God Work Ministries, I was living in my bed, fighting cancer. Up till then, I had lived a life of insignificance, of no credibility or value. No one invested their time or encouragement in me because they never thought I would amount to anything. When God told me to teach His Word, I was quick to remind Him of this. But He didn’t see me as the world saw me, and He was just as quick to remind me of another of His kids who made the same argument. His name was Moses.
Now, I’m not inferring that I am anywhere near a Moses. My point is that God saw something in me that the world couldn’t see. The view of the Creator is vastly different from that of the creation. Even Spirit-filled believers only see through a glass darkly. Perhaps that is why God commands us not to judge one another. It is certainly an excellent reason not to judge yourself.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, Your ways are so much higher than my ways. Please, don’t let the limitations of my flesh form a prison for my mind. Help me, in Jesus’ name, not to judge what I see, hear, or feel, but to lean entirely on my faith in You. Knowing that no matter what the world thinks, You alone are God, and in all things, You have the last word. Amen.
