Today’s Promise is 1 Peter 1:4, 5 CJB:
“… to an inheritance that cannot decay, spoil or fade, kept safe for you in heaven. Meanwhile, through trusting, you are being protected by God’s power for a deliverance ready to be revealed at the Last Time.”
Devotion:
This inheritance is a life beyond what we could ever imagine. Forever. This word “kept” speaks of a military guard that stands watch, preventing a hostile invasion, and certainly God is more than capable of that. But this protection must be activated by us. It is through faith. Not only trusting in Christ who secured our inheritance, but being faithful to Him in obedience. Disobedience is an open invitation to the enemy to invade and steal the inheritance Jesus died to secure us. What earthly pleasure or indulgence could possibly be worth more than meeting your Savior with a clear conscience?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the privilege of being called Your child. And thank You for giving me a hope and a future that is secure in Christ Jesus. Help me never to take that for granted, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
