Today’s Promise is John 14:21 CJB:
“Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me, and the one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and reveal myself to him.”
Devotion:
The word “has” here is echo, and means literally to hold fast to, and figuratively, to wear as a garment. I don’t know about you, but I feel and act differently when I dress up, than when I wear jeans and a t-shirt. It’s the same when we choose to put on God’s righteous commandments instead of the attitudes of the world. It’s one thing to know God’s commands, and quite another to possess them, to wear them. Yet this is how we prove our love for the Lord. And, when we do, He has promised to reveal Himself to us. Have you seen Jesus lately?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, write Your commandments on my heart and help me to eat, sleep, and breathe them, that I might spend more time with Jesus. Face to face. In His precious name, Amen.
