Today’s Promise is Isaiah 59:1 NKJV:
“Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened,
That it cannot save;
Nor His ear heavy,
That it cannot hear.”
Devotion:
Our God stands ready to hear us when we call–and to save us. We can rely on Him. However, He goes on in verse 2 to warn us that sin will separate us from Him and hide His face from us so that He will not hear us. In the world in which we live, the line between right and wrong has become fluid to suit people’s whims and fancies. We can often be in sin and not know it, because we are so far removed from God and His true nature. The only cure for this is intimacy with the Father through the Holy Spirit. And humility is the key to this intimacy.
God wants us to be humble, not to keep us subservient, but so He can lift us up to new heights. He loves us to ask the Spirit daily to reveal any ways we are falling short, not so He can rub our noses in our failure, but so He can continue to cleanse and sanctify us, drawing us closer to Him and opening the lines of communication. Walking humbly before God and man keeps us teachable, and God loves a teachable spirit. Don’t be afraid of the Holy Spirit’s correction. Seek it out, knowing that it is backed by the deepest love you will ever know.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I repent of my pride that has kept me separated from You. I want more of You, Lord, and I give myself over to the capable hands of Your Spirit. Reveal in me anything that keeps me from getting closer to You, that I may repent of it, and be cleansed. Teach me to walk in Your ways, in Jesus’ name, that You will always hear me when I call on You. Amen!
Have a victorious day in the Lord!
