Today’s Promise is Joshua 1:5 CJB:
“No one will be able to withstand you as long as you live. Just as I was with Moshe [Moses], so I will be with you. I will neither fail you nor abandon you.”
Devotion:
God spoke these words to Joshua after He told him to cross over Jordan and take the land God had promised them. They were marching under the direct order of God, but when you look at the situation from the Israelite’s perspective, going up against great armies with giants, you see an impossible situation. Except for one detail–the God of all creation was on their side. When we are faced with opposition that seems too great to overcome, the first thing to do is to humble ourselves before God and ask Him if we are in line with His will. When we are acting in obedience to God, all that is left for us to do is to believe on His Word and forge ahead, knowing our perseverance is building strength and endurance, and that in the end, all opposition will yield to God–because He says so.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, No one and nothing can stand against You. And for that very reason, no one and nothing can stand against me when I am in Your will. Father, open my spiritual ears wide, that I may hear Your direction clearly. Then empower me by Your Spirit to stand in the battle and take the ground You have promised me, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
