Blessings!
Today’s Promise is Proverbs 17:9 AMP:
“He who covers and forgives an offense seeks love, But he who repeats or gossips about a matter separates intimate friends.”
Devotion:
Last week during afternoon prayer, I was caught up to the Third Heaven and found myself face-to-face with a man I can only describe as jubilant. He was big in stature, and the joy emanating from him was tangible and infectious. He reminded me of Charles Dickens’ Spirit of Christmas Present, and I asked if he was a saint or an angel. The man’s face glowed and his whole body was animated as he spread his arms wide and said, “LAVISH FORGIVENESS!” Then he got even more animated and said, “The more you forgive–the MORE ROOM you have for forgiveness!”
I understood at that moment that the more I practice forgiveness, the greater capacity I have to forgive. Not only that, but the more capacity I have to receive God’s forgiveness! I’m so thankful for this message. Every time I think of the jubilant messenger, I smile all over, and I remember that all-consuming joy can be mine, when I surrender my pride and practice lavish forgiveness.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, You gave your Son that I might know the joy I witnessed in Your messenger. But the choice is mine to walk in it. Thank You so much for giving me the Holy Spirit to help me resist the trap of joy-killing pride, and walk in Your Lavish Forgiveness! Amen!
Have a victorious day in the Lord!
