Blessings!
Today’s Promise is 1 John 4:7 NKJV:
“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.”
Devotion:
Let us love. It is the will of God and the work of the Holy Spirit to transform us into His likeness. Transform us into Love. This transformation requires our attentiveness and submission to the Holy Spirit. But the spirit of pride is loud and obnoxious and can often drown out Holy Spirit’s voice, resulting in a failure to mature. Unfortunately, the damage doesn’t end with us. Our attitude toward others is the gauge by which the unbelieving world judges the reality of the power of Jesus’ blood. Remember this when you deal with a brusque waitress, a slow clerk, an arrogant student, and yes, that grumpy old man in church. The less we exercise our pride, the weaker it will get, and the more we exercise the Holy Spirit, the stronger He will get in us. This is spiritual maturity. This is what we are called to. This is love.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, though my progress may be slow, You see me through the eyes of grace, a completed work of redemption, covered in the righteousness of Your Son. Please help me to know You, Lord, in Jesus’ name, and to see others through Your eyes, loving them as You love me, that they may want to know You, too. Amen.
Have a victorious day in the Lord!
Rebecca
