Today’s Promise is 1 John 3:7, 8 NKJV:
“Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.”
Devotion:
More and more, today’s church looks more like the world. Instead of being set apart (holy), churches are embracing what God clearly calls evil. A spirit of perversion is working successfully to convince church leaders that what is evil is good and what is good is evil under the delusion of “winning the unchurched over” and creating a gospel that is more palatable to man. The fear of the Lord may not be politically correct, but it is the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 9:10). We are told in no uncertain terms that whoever is a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God (James 4;4).
The Bride of Christ is to be wed to Christ, not preachers, or denominations, or dogmas, or theologies. Just Christ. Know your Bridegroom, and you will know Truth. Know Truth, and you will know the lies of the enemy. This is how the works of the devil are destroyed.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I want to know You above all else. Pour out Your Spirit of Truth as I seek Your face, oh, Lord, in Jesus’ name, that I may know a lie when I hear it and separate myself from it. Help me to be holy, Lord, as You are holy. Amen.
