Blessings!
Today’s Promise is Psalm 133:1-3 NKJV:
“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is
For brethren to dwell together in unity!
It is like the precious oil upon the head,
Running down on the beard,
The beard of Aaron,
Running down on the edge of his garments.
It is like the dew of Hermon,
Descending upon the mountains of Zion;
For there the LORD commanded the blessing—
Life forevermore.”
Devotion:
I love this picture of unity being an anointing oil pouring over a Chief Priest, and the blessings of God raining softly down on His people. This kind of unity brings God’s Kingdom to earth, but it cannot be attained apart from the power of the Holy Spirit.
I read an account of evangelist and revival leader, Maria Woodworth-Etter, from her book, Signs and Wonders. In January of 1885, as she went to address a church that had grown cold, she knew it would take a mighty move of the Spirit to get through. She found five leading members to “unite with me in prayer for the Lord to pour out the power from on high, till the city would be shaken, and the country, for miles around.” Over a period of five weeks, the Spirit swept through the town, “arresting sinners of all classes” in homes, businesses, on the streets, and in the bars. Social barriers dissolved and the city fell into one brotherhood, united in love. Crime dwindled, and the police complained that there was nothing for them to do!
Wouldn’t you want to see that in your city? I would! All it took was six faithful prayer warriors. Who will unite with me in fasting and prayer for a mighty move of God in our cities and nations?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, Your Son asked You at Gethsemane to make us one as You and He are one. I ask You for the same, Lord, in Jesus’ name. Send me believers who are willing to set aside all else for the sake of bringing Your glory to our cities, nations, and the world. No one can change the hearts of men and women but Your Holy Spirit. Invade us with Your Spirit, Lord. Amen.
Have a victorious day in the Lord!
