Promise of the Day: No Competition

Blessings!

Today’s Promise is John 4:36 NKJV:

“And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together.”

Devotion:

I sometimes am tempted to get discouraged when I see other Kingdom workers who seem to be doing so much more. The enemy loves it when I take my eyes off God and start comparing myself to others because he knows I’ll never measure up in my eyes. I must constantly remind myself that this is not about me. It’s all for the glory of God. As long as I remain focused on Him and do as He directs me, I am right where I need to be, doing what I need to do. In this place, I can rejoice in the work of others in the Kingdom, seeing them as co-workers instead of the competition. We may be running a race, but not against one another, with one another. Like a relay. When we each run the race to win, we all win.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, when I’m tempted to get discouraged, be quick to remind me to look up and remember that You don’t demand that I be the best in the field.  You only ask that I work in the field and trust the rest to You. Help me rest in You, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Have a victorious day in the Lord!
