Today’s Promise is John 17:11 NKJV:
“Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We are.”
Devotion:
Have you ever heard the expression, “Too many cooks spoil the stew?” While God has given us leadership roles within the Church, there is only one God. What unifies the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, is their agreement that God is in charge, and Jesus and the Spirit submit to Him. God has made Jesus the Head of the Church, and there can be only one head. Unity will come when we fully realize we are equal parts of one body. None is greater than any other, and none but Jesus has been given all authority over us. No one is too important to be on their face before the Lord in humble submission. In fact there is no position more powerful. Jesus proved humility is the key to unity.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, please grant me Your Spirit of Wisdom, in Jesus’ name, that I may look only to You for direction. That I may not be a part of petty bickering that keeps me from accomplishing Your will on earth, as it is in Heaven. Amen!
