Today’s Promise is 1 John 2:27 NKJV:
“But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.”
Devotion:
Every false doctrine in existence was born out of the lie that we must have man interpret the Word of God for us instead of the Author of the Word Himself. There is only one Spirit of Truth, and it is His job to guide us into all truth and help us rightly divide the Word. It is our job and responsibility to seek Him out and wait on Him. Though God speaks through His servants to encourage us, it is only to cause us to pursue Him in a personal relationship. Not the hottest preacher of the day, or the most exciting prophet, or the best selling author, but Him. You will never know if you are hearing the servant of the Lord or the servant of the enemy unless you take responsibility to search out the truth from the Source. You will, however, give account for your pursuits–or lack thereof. Seek God above all!
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, confusion about You and who You are runs rampant in the world today, as the father of all lies seeks to keep Your people from the Truth. I call on Your Holy Spirit to quicken the hearts of those You have called to seek You as we would life-giving water in the desert. Father, open our eyes and draw us closer to You, in Jesus’ name. Unite us in Your Truth that we may stand strong against the enemy who seeks only to steal, kill, and destroy. Let us walk boldly in the truth of Your Kingdom on earth. Amen.
