Blessings!
Today’s Promise is Matthew 10:32, 33 CJB:
“Whoever acknowledges me in the presence of others I will also acknowledge in the presence of my Father in heaven. But whoever disowns me before others I will disown before my Father in heaven.”
Devotion:
Facing a hostile crowd, or even one person, can make even the boldest Christian hesitate. It used to be that God’s people were labeled “Jesus freaks,” or “weirdos.” Now, we’re “hate-mongers,” “bigots,” “racists,” and every other moniker that means “bad person.” I think it was easier being a weirdo. Regardless, we are called to be bold in our faith, and to stand up for God’s precepts.
Knowing scripture can make it easier to give a reason for our faith, but the key to bold faith is knowing God. The more time you spend with the Lord, the more you experience Him in your life, the more difficult it is to keep Him to yourself. The more you yield to the Spirit, the more difficult it is to see adversaries instead of people in need of a Savior, which is what they are. Denying Christ before them is denying them the opportunity to know that Savior. Having the mind of Christ alters your perception of reality from self-preservation to Kingdom representation.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help me to know You better each day, in Jesus’ name. Make me ever mindful of Your goodness and all that You’ve done for me, until I become a walking signpost, pointing the way to You. Amen!
Have a victorious day in the Lord!
