Today’s Promise is Psalm 101:5 CJB:
“If someone slanders another in secret,
I will cut him off.
Haughty eyes and proud hearts
I cannot abide.”
Devotion:
Our attitudes don’t have to pass our lips for the Lord to know them. His Spirit searches our hearts and knows our every thought, to bring conviction when we deviate from the mind of Christ, and then to empower us to “take captive every thought to the obedience of Christ.” God makes promises to the obedient and disobedient alike. As believers, our righteousness is in Christ alone. It is not to be lorded over our brothers and sisters, but to humble us, enabling us to love one another as He loves us, in word and deed, face to face and behind one another’s backs.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, please help me to see all people–including myself–through Your eyes, in Jesus’ name, that I may know how precious each of us are to You and treat all people accordingly. Amen.
