Promise of the Day: Speak It!

Speak It!

Blessings!

Today’s Promise is Genesis 1:3 NKJV:

“Then God said, ‘Let there be light’; and there was light.”

Speak It!

Devotion:

We learn to quote this verse as children, and I think we repeat it so automatically we fail to consider the weight of its truth. Consider this, until God spoke it into being, there was no light. Light dispels all darkness, and God is the source of light. Consider also that God “said ” it and it happened. What does that mean for us? Three of the most significant promises ever made. First, our Father does not want us to remain in the dark. He is the source of light that enables us to see, in the spirit realm and the physical realm. Nor does He want us to fear the darkness, for darkness cannot exist in the presence of His light. Second, as His children, created in His likeness, we also have the power to create light in a dark world with the words we speak. As it is written, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” By speaking God’s Word, as Jesus did, we reflect His light. And, third, if God says something, it will come to pass. We need never wonder if His promises are true, whether promises of blessing or promises of judgment. His word is steadfast and unchanging. Just like Him. How’s that for a three-for-one deal?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You that I can rely on You when everything else is changing and shifting. You are the solid Rock on which I stand, my anchor in the time of storm. You are an awesome God! Help me be a creator of light, just like You, in Jesus’ name. Amen!

Have a victorious day in the Lord!
