Today’s Promise is 1 Corinthians 6:11 NKJV:
“Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.”
Devotion:
Many people today don’t want to believe that there are certain behaviors that God will absolutely not abide. When God created the universe, He defined and set the guidelines of holiness, just as He created the laws of mathematics, physics, and all universal laws. But our God is patient and gracious, and even if we have crossed the line of holiness, our repentance will soften His heart and He will wash us clean in the Blood of the Lamb. Then He will give us His Spirit to strengthen and guide us on the path of holiness. But, it is up to us to follow that leading and stay on the path. Because, if someone covered in mud takes a shower and puts on a clean white robe, only to go back out and roll in the mud again, they are no longer clean, are they?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I was guilty of unholy behavior in my past, but in Your goodness, You lifted me out of the muck, cleansed me, and made me whole. Let Your Spirit work on the inside of me as well, cleansing all unclean thoughts and desires, in Jesus’ name, that I may be holy as You are holy. Let me live to please You, that You may be glorified on earth as You are in Heaven. Amen.
