Promise of the Day: The Gift of Righteousness

Labor of the Soul

Blessings!

Today’s Promise is 1 Peter 2:24 CJB:

“He himself bore our sins in his body on the stake, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness — by his wounds you were healed.”

The Gift of Righteousness

Devotion:

Have you ever had someone take the blame and punishment for something you did? Maybe a sibling, a friend, or even a stranger? Jesus didn’t just take on the sin and punishment of one person for one deed. He took on every sin in history, for every human being on earth! I know the grief I feel when I fail God, but I can’t even imagine the pain Jesus must have felt, having the sins of the world separate Him from the Father for the first time in His existence. I couldn’t live for righteousness if I tried had Jesus not done that for me. I could never be whole had He not taken the lashes I so greatly deserve. How could anyone reject a gift of such magnitude and power?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, when I think of the price Your beautiful Son paid for me, I am humbled to my core. The only place for me is prostrate at Your feet. Help me to remain there, Lord, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Have a victorious day in the Lord!
