Blessings!
Today’s Promise is Psalm 49:15 NKJV:
“But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave,
For He shall receive me.”
Devotion:
The word translated “grave” here, is actually sheol, or hell, and is also defined as the place of exile.* Apart from the eternal glory of God’s presence received by faith in Jesus Christ, hell is the only other option. I’ve heard people say, “I’ll rest when I’m dead.” But the unfortunate truth is, while the flesh may “sleep” in the grave, the spirit never sleeps. And the only rest to be found in death is with the Lord. Your Father isn’t just waiting for you to join the other the residents of Heaven. He’s waiting to receive you into His presence! Individually, as the Lord of the Manor receives a beloved and long-awaited child! Until that day, let us prepare for our grand reception. Let us prepare to meet our Father and our King!
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for redeeming my soul from the pit! I want to be prepared when You receive me. I surrender to You, Lord, in Jesus’ name, and to the transforming work of Your Holy Spirit, to make me ready, that on that day I may hear You say, “Well done, good and faithful servant!” Amen!
Have a victorious day in the Lord!
Rebecca
