Today’s Promise is Psalm 111:10 NKJV:
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
A good understanding have all those who do His commandments.
His praise endures forever.”
Devotion:
Proverbs 4 tells us that wisdom and understanding are the most valuable things we can obtain. All you have to do is look at the “how to” section of any book store to see that the world knows this is true. What the world doesn’t know is that there is only one source of true wisdom, and that is God. While learning from other people can be helpful, true wisdom can only be found by seeking and reverencing the God who created us. But wisdom isn’t worth much without understanding. Not our understanding, but God’s. Walking in obedience to God trains us to see the world and our situations from a Godly perspective, so we never have to wonder if we’re making right choices. Most people spend their lives seeking success, never realizing that success is the natural byproduct of wisdom and understanding.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help me to know You and walk in Your ways, in Jesus’ name, that I may gain wisdom and understanding and live successfully as You created me to. Amen.
