Today’s Promise is John 6:15 NIV:
“Jesus, knowing that they intended to come and make him king by force, withdrew again to a mountain by himself.”
Devotion:
You’re probably thinking, how is this a promise? But this verse is key in coming into the fullness of Christ. Jesus wasn’t alone on the mountain. He went to seek His Father. God is God. He will never be what we want Him to be, and trying to force Him to be will only cause Him to withdraw from us. Just as we, created in His likeness, want to be known and loved for who we are, so does our Creator. If we are to truly know Him and be one with Him, we must give up what we need Him to be, let go of our fears, and embrace Him as He reveals Himself to us, moment by moment. Spend time on the mountain, getting to know the Father.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I want to be one with You, as Jesus prayed for me. You are bigger than my fears, and Your wisdom knows no bounds. Open my heart, Lord, to receive You as You are, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
