Promise of the Day: Training for Glory

Blessings!

Today’s Promise is Hebrews 12:7 CJB:

“Regard your endurance as discipline; God is dealing with you as sons. For what son goes undisciplined by his father?

Devotion:

So many in the church rail against this truth. I believe that is because they view all discipline as punishment. Unfortunately, that is a misconception that can keep believers from ever knowing God. In fact, the word discipline is where the word disciple comes from. You can’t have one without the other. It is not our job as disciples of Christ to define who God is and how He behaves. He has laid that out plainly in His Word. Our job is to trust that our Father will finish the good work He began in us, and He will use whatever means He deems necessary to accomplish His purpose. When I was diagnosed with a tumor, there was no doubt in my mind that God was answering my prayer for more of Him. That tumor was the instrument He used to reveal Himself to me, and I thank God for it every day. The true children of God rejoice when the Father gives us opportunities to lose more of ourselves and gain more of Him. Praise God, He loves us enough to help us become what He created us to be!

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me and disciplining me as Your child. I want to be the best I can be, that I may bring You glory, and You know how to make that happen. I surrender to You, Lord, spirit, soul, and body. Remake me in Your image and likeness, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Have a victorious day in the Lord!
