Promise of the Day: Victory March

Marching Orders

Blessings!

Today’s Promise is Deuteronomy 31:8 NKJV:

“The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

Devotion:

Moses spoke these words to Israel on his 120th birthday, preparing them for the next leg of their journey. The Crossover People (Israel) had been tried and tested in the wilderness, learning to know God and to fear Him. Now, they were poised to cross over the Jordan, into the Promised Land. This verse is all the more meaningful when you consider that the literal meaning of “Jordan” is to go down, or to prostrate oneself. We know, from the preceding verses, that it is not the inhabitants of the land they are to bow down to, but God. For it would be God who would conquer their enemies and deliver the Promised Land into their hands. This is a foreshadowing of our journey to the Promised Land. We all must spend our time in the wilderness, learning to know and fear God, before He gives us the territory He created us to possess for His Kingdom. But we must never forget that it is not by might, nor by power, but by His Spirit that all territory is reclaimed from the enemy. Bowing low in submission to God is the key to marching in victory and taking the territory He created us to take.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, to You be the glory and honor, and praise. Let me always walk humbly before You, trusting in You to show me the way and to take the territories You give me. Thank You for going before me, for always being with me, and for dealing with my enemies, that I may focus on bringing You glory, and bringing Your glory to earth, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Have a victorious day in the Lord!
