Power in the Blood

Blessings Friends,

I have been doing a lot of thinking about miracles lately. I guess I’m still trying to fit The Devine into my limited brain. Yesterday was a pretty achy day for me and I began to wonder if I would ever see a day without pain or dragging fatigue again. I’m having a hard time remembering what it was like.

Then I started wondering why God healed me when He did. He could have just as easily removed the tumor before my last scans. Before I was cut open. I have come up with only two possible reasons (because He does nothing without a reason): maybe someone on the surgical team needed to witness His power, or, maybe I needed my focus redirected. Maybe both.

Whatever His reasons I know His purpose will be achieved. I just can’t help but wonder.

I’ve heard some say that The Bible says we will receive whatever The Spirit prompts us to ask for, quoting John 15:5-7 about the vine and the branches.

“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.”

While I know from experience that The Holy Spirit does prompt us to pray at times, I see Jesus here not as a dictator, but a power source.

 Mark 11:20-25:

“Now in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. And Peter, remembering, said to Him, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree which You cursed has withered away.”

“So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God.For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”

I believe that God wants us to be bold in our walk and not be crippled by our musings of God’s will. If we are one in The Spirit, we will not ask for the “wrong things.” On the contrary, we will know that the world is ours to command, just as it was Jesus’.

2 Timothy 1:7:

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

But we are so limited by our sight and other senses we can’t fully grasp this. We say our “old selves” have died with Christ and we are a new creation, but we don’t live it. Instead of an immediate transformation, we make it a lifelong process, clinging to the natural with white knuckles. I am especially guilty of this.

However hard it is for us to grasp, God is not natural. He is SUPERNATURAL. And to be one in Him means to be supernatural. The two cannot co-exist. We are either of the world, or we are of God. Jesus prayed for us before He was crucified, John 17:20-23:

“I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word;that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.”

And He has been praying for us ever since. How awesome is that?

I am so thankful that God is patient with me. He worked a miracle in me that cannot be explained away, and no offense to anyone, but I will continue to pray for the victory over cancer and illness in every believer. Not in timidity lest it not be God’s will, but in the spirit of power in the name of Jesus Christ. The power that comes from believing, because,

“Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.'”

Matthew 19:25-27

I hope you will join me.

God’s grace and peace be yours,

Rebecca
