Promise of the Day: Be the Unexpected

Blessings!

Today’s Promise is Proverbs 25:21, 22 CJB:

“If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat;
And if he is thirsty, give him water to drink;
For so you will heap coals of fire on his head,
And the Lord will reward you.”

Devotion:

Our purpose in loving our enemies is not to bring condemnation on them. That is not our job. Our purpose is to release the fire of the Holy Spirit into their lives. Though they may not realize it, people who hate don’t just hunger for food, they hunger for the Bread of Life. And they don’t just thirst for water, but Living Water. When we show kindness to those who hate us, we are giving them that. We are giving them Jesus, and Jesus changes hearts. People who hate expect to be hated in return. That is what the world does. But we are not of the world. We are the unexpected.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, if anyone knows what it means to love those who hate you, You do! Yet, You sacrificed Your only Son, that I might have eternal life in spite of myself. Thank You for loving me when I was unlovable. Your love changed my heart. Help me, in Jesus’ name, to love others as You have loved me, that You might change their hearts as well. Amen.

Have a victorious day in the Lord!
