The Church of Baal: Taking the Bull by the Horns

Blessings, Family,

My last post related a dream I had received concerning the New Church God was building from the ground up. If you didn’t get a chance to read it, you can find it with this link The New Church Rising!

In this dream I was told by God that the ground on which the church currently stands is cursed, and that only God could purify it, but I wasn’t told why it was cursed, though it’s not difficult to figure out. Well, I have had another dream that gave me the definitive answer.

THE DREAM

In this dream, I was visiting the church I grew up in with a friend. Back then, this was a very traditional church. You didn’t raise your hands in worship, and you certainly didn’t say, “Amen!” If the service ran two minutes past twelve, you can bet the pastor heard about it. A new generation was in charge now, and they had gone to great lengths to renovate the building to reflect a cool, modern vibe. Remember, in my last dream, a new congregation was renovating a church that had died? What’s that saying? You can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig? (For the record, I’m not saying the people in the church are pigs . . .  though pigs are quite strong-willed and stubborn.)

I recognized the man showing us around as a guy I went to school with. Growing up, he had thought quite highly of himself, in school and in church, and it seemed that hadn’t changed. I wasn’t sure if he was the pastor or an elder.

We first went up to the balcony, where I was surprised to see the podium standing in the middle. It struck me as strange that the pastor would be moved so high above the congregation, but our tour guide seemed very proud of the podium, and I took a closer look. It was one piece, carved out of wood, and when I stepped to the front, I saw what the man was so proud of. The head of a bull was carved into the front of the podium, protruding out from it. The head was “bedazzled” with metal studs as cowboy gear is decorated.

The people in this town are mostly farmers and ranchers, as was my family, and I began to notice a distinct cowboy theme in the décor. But, when I saw that bull’s head, my stomach dropped. I turned to my friend and said, “Do you know what that is? This is not a church of God. This is a church of Baal!”

Our guide laughed at this, and I said, “It’s no laughing matter. Don’t you see what you’ve done?” As I looked around the church, I began to see more and more bull’s head decorations, and I told our guide the  church needed to repent and burn every last one. Again, he laughed. They had spent a lot of money on this remodel, and he thought I was taking things way too seriously.

I raised my voice to the whole congregation and said, “You have desecrated the house of God! You have made God’s house a temple of Baal! You must repent of this sin, or you will all burn!”

Everyone just looked at me like I was crazy, and I told my friend we had to leave this place. When we got down to the foyer, I realized I’d had another dream like this, only the church in that dream had porcelain bull heads painted in bright colors and designs all around the walls of their foyer and on pedestals all around the property.

As we walked out into the parking lot, people were still pouring into the church. My friend asked me what she should do. She was a longtime member of the church and didn’t want to leave it. It was her comfort zone. I looked at her in disbelief. I told her pointblank that if she didn’t leave this place, she would be doomed to destruction.

Then I turned to all the people going into the church and raised my voice again, saying, “This ground is cursed, and cursed are all who continue here! All who worship here are doomed to destruction!” Of course, they all were very amused and continued into the church.

It didn’t surprise me, but I was so sad. There was no more I could do for them. As I sat in the car with my friend, she kept telling me we had to do something. I had to do something. Then the Lord spoke to my heart the words, “Prophet’s Prayer Group.” At first it seemed perfectly logical. Then I realized this friend was not as spiritually mature and accustomed to spiritual warfare as I was, and that I in fact didn’t know anyone who was. It wasn’t pride, but concern. I could be putting people in danger. Then I heard the Lord say, “Teach them.”

What could I say? Except, “Okay, Lord. You send them, and I’ll teach them.”

BAAL

The worship of Satan (Baal) was going on long before Abraham was called to become the Nation of God. Satan was kicked out of Heaven because he wanted to be worshipped like the Creator. This is the reason Baal worship has never been fully irradicated, regardless of how many times God has shown Himself to be the one, true God, whether through Elijah on Mt. Carmel, Moses in Egypt and at the Red Sea, or Joshua at Jerico and the Jordan. And, the Bible talks a lot about idolaters building their altars on the high places, and remember in my dream the pulpit had been placed in the balcony.

To better understand why Baal worship persists in today’s church, let’s take a closer look at who Baal is and what he represents. Though he’s had many different names through the centuries and through different cultures, Baal has always been Satan. One of his names is Baalah, which you may recognize today as Allah.

The meaning of Baal is “owner, lord, or husband,” indicating that once you enter into covenant with him, you become his slave. Notice that these are the same titles properly given to Jesus Christ. This speaks to Satan’s desire to steal what rightfully belongs to the Son of the Living God.

Baal was known as the god of weather, which was how the Israelites kept getting sucked into worshipping him. Israel was dependent on the spring rains for crop production. But the people kept forgetting God’s promise to bless them if they kept His commandments. So, when the rains didn’t come in season and the dry season persisted, instead of humbling themselves and repenting, they called on the pagans’ god.

Basically, they said, “Our God has failed us, and we don’t trust Him to provide for us. So, if you give us what we want, Baal, we’ll serve you.”

Our God requires from us only faith and obedience through that faith. But Baal, representing the weather, needed to bring fertility to the land, apparently needed to be aroused. So, worship of Baal included orgies involving sodomy of men and women, bestiality, adultery, drunkenness, and often child-sacrifice (abortion). When they had adequately aroused Baal, he would release his rain, making Mother Earth (often represented by the goddess Asherah) fertile. When the rains came, the people would have another reason to party, thanking and worshipping Baal all the more.

This is why God talks of serving other gods as adultery, whoredoms. We were created for one husband, Jesus our Messiah, and we are expected to keep ourselves pure for Him. And, you don’t have to participate in these activities to be an idolater.

“Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, But the Lord weighs the hearts.” — Proverbs 21:2 NKJV

If you support any of the behaviors mentioned above, you are in rebellion against God, and even His grace won’t save you.

“For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.” — Hebrews 10:26-27 NKJV

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR TODAY’S CHURCH?

What Baal worship boils down to is not trusting in God to take care of and provide for you. Period.

Today, that looks, first of all like a 501 (c) (3). Jesus said, “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s.” (Matthew 22:21) He did not say “Render to Caesar the things that are God’s.”

When churches register with the government to be tax-free entities, they are giving men the authority that belongs to the Holy Spirit. It is the government that decides what they can and can’t preach, and when they can and can’t assemble. They no longer answer to God, but to the government.

In doing so, they begin to cave to social pressure, changing the word of God into something more palatable, so they won’t offend anyone. Sexual immorality and perversion become acceptable, as do a host of other behaviors God has called sin. In other words, Baal worship.

I see two extremes in the church, today. On one hand, there is the church that clings to the old ways, hanging on to the old dress code, music, and precisely timed structure of each service like a security blanket. More concerned with rules than in a relationship with Jesus. White washed sepulchers. They sit in the pews they’ve occupied so long the imprints of their derrieres are there to greet them every week, and they wait for Jesus to come back and save them. The Holy Spirit isn’t welcome here, and Jesus wouldn’t get past the greeter/gatekeeper. They’re too “radical.”

Then, I see the churches like the ones in my dreams, another form of whitewashed sepulchers, more concerned with décor and social status than in a relationship with Jesus. They usually have cool pastors in skinny jeans or Wranglers, and a great “worship team” with smoke machines and flashing lights. Even if the Holy Spirit did show up here, no one would be able to hear Him over the music. And worship tends more toward the pastor and band members than Jesus.

Both of these churches are already dead, and they don’t know it.

For the most part, the church has become more fearful of man than of the God who created man. And God is has had about all He can take. Make no mistake,

For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.” – Deuteronomy 4:24

“For I am jealous for you with godly jealousy. For I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.” – 2 Corinthians 11:2

I would ask you to examine your hearts and seek the Lord’s leading. Are you where God wants you to be, or where you are comfortable? Are you trusting in God to lead you and provide for you, or are you trusting in man? Remember Paul’s warning to Timothy.

But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!” – 2 Timothy 3:2-5

As the Lord showed me, prayer is our only defense against this infestation of the church, and I ask you to join with me in that. Take up your sword and fight with me, that the eyes of the church will be opened, and hearts will be changed, that we might repent of our idolatries. Then we will see a mighty wind sweep through the body of Christ bringing new life, and new wine, and reigniting the sanctifying fire of God, reviving and uniting us all against the spirit of Baal!

May God’s grace and peace be yours,

Rebecca
