Today’s Promise is Psalm 25:8, 9 CJB:
“Adonai is good, and he is fair;
this is why he teaches sinners the way [to live],
leads the humble to do what is right
and teaches the humble [to live] his way.”
Devotion:
To know you have been chosen by God to know and serve Him should be a very humbling thing. In fact, anyone who is not humbled by this knowledge has never met Jesus. As verse 8 reminds us, we have not yet been glorified. We are yet sinners. It is God’s glory, His goodness, that allows us the privilege of being taught by Him. We have nothing to be proud of in and of ourselves. Instead of thinking ourselves higher or better than others, we should be striving to make our Father proud of us. The best place to learn how to please God is bowed low before Him in full submission, worshiping Him for the mercy He has shown us. By acknowledging that we know nothing, we open our hearts and minds to learn everything. God loves a teachable spirit.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help me to remember that no matter how much I learn about You, I’m only just beginning. Help me to humble myself before You, Lord, in Jesus’ name, so You don’t have to do it for me. Amen.
