Blessings!
Today’s Promise is 2 Samuel 22:21 NKJV:
“The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness;
According to the cleanness of my hands
He has recompensed me.”
Devotion:
Do you ever grow weary of doing the right thing? Sometimes when we look around at the evil that seems to abound in the world, it can make us wonder, what’s the point? What difference can one person make, anyway? Discouragement can tempt us to compromise, to look for an easier way out, or even give up all together. David understood weariness. Most people think the story of David and Goliath ended with David holding the giant’s severed head up in triumph. In fact Goliath had four brothers–all out for revenge. David was far from perfect, but he was a man after God’s own heart because, regardless of who was trying to kill him, he new he could trust God to deal with his enemies. He trusted God to fight the battles he didn’t have the strength to fight. The giants were no exception.
Are you facing a giant and growing weary in the battle? Jesus can give you the grace to act with compassion and faith instead of re-acting in fatigue, discouragement, or pride. When you hold fast to your faith in Him, you can trust Him to fight for you–and win.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for being my strength and my shield. Grant me the faith to rest in Your care, in Jesus’ name, and the grace to bless my enemies as I trust in You, that I may remain in Your favor. Amen.
Have a victorious day in the Lord!
