Blessings!
Today’s Promise is 1 Peter 2:13-15 NKJV:
“Therefore submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake, whether to the king as supreme, or to governors, as to those who are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do good. For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men.”
Devotion:
It goes without saying that when the laws of man directly violate the laws of God, God’s Law prevails. God’s children should never indulge in behaviors that God has forbidden, such as abortion or recreational drug use (sorcery), nor should we condone them.
But it is God who sets leadership in place. Therefore, when we obey the laws of the land, whether driving the speed limit, or obtaining proper licenses or building permits, paying our taxes, or any other law created to protect and benefit society, we are obeying God. When a professed Christian tries to circumvent any law or regulation, not only does it send a message to the world that our faith is meaningless, it is rebellion against God himself. Regardless of our station in life, as believers, we should live lives that are blameless before God and man, because we serve a God who empowers us to do so. If we are not showing the world, now, the difference Jesus has made in our lives, God will show the world later, how He deals with disobedient servants. He will judge all of our deeds, good and bad, no matter how insignificant they seem to us in the moment.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help me remember, in Jesus’ name, that the world is watching me, in order to judge my faith and label me a hypocrite. Help me always to walk humbly before You and man, obeying every law and repenting when I fall short. I want the world to see that You are alive in me, and You are perfect, even if I’m not. Amen.
Have a victorious day in the Lord!
