Promise of the Day: Falling

Blessings!

Today’s Promise is Jude 1:24 CJB:

“Now,

to the one who can keep you from falling
and set you without defect and full of joy
in the presence of his Sh’khinah —
to God alone, our Deliverer,
through Yeshua the Messiah, our Lord —
be glory, majesty, power and authority
before all time, now and forever.

Amen.

Devotion:

There was a popular quote back in the seventies that you’d see on posters, greeting cards, you name it. It said, “Love means . . . never having to say you’re sorry.” As a child, I use to puzzle over that quote, wondering what in the world it meant. From a Christian point of view, many might say this is like grace, never having to apologize for the choices we make. Once saved, always saved, right? But I think this ending of Jude’s prayer swiftly puts that myth to rest. The key words are “the one who can keep you from falling.” The same power that raised our Messiah from the dead, can keep us from backsliding into sin. The power is God’s presence in His Holy Spirit. We  only need to trust in that power and choose it. When we choose obedience, we can be set without defect and full of joy in the presence of God’s glory. And we will never have to say, “I’m sorry.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I thank You and praise You for the power You have made available to me through the work of Your Son, Jesus Christ. I want to sit without defect and full of joy in Your presence, Lord. Help me, in Jesus’ name, to hear and submit to Your Holy Spirit, that You may keep me from falling, and that I may glorify You in all I say and do. Amen.

Have a victorious day in the Lord!
