Today’s Promise is 1 John 4:12 NKJV:
“No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us.”
Devotion:
This verse is more about the nature of God that the person. Jesus said that, if you’ve seen Him, you’ve seen the Father. And, as with Jesus, we are meant to embody the nature of God on earth. This is what Jesus came to show us through His life, death, and resurrection on earth. God is love. Pure, self-sacrificing, unconditional love. That is the love with which we are to love one another, as Christ loved us. But this is impossible by our own effort, for if God is love, there is no love apart from Him. Only through complete submission to the source of love can we hope to achieve the purity of love that reveals the nature of the living God to a world to which seeing is believing. Freely you have received. Freely give.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your undying love that saved a wretch like me. Help me surrender to You day by day, moment by moment, in Jesus’ name, that I may be a reflection of Your love to an unbelieving world, and that, through me, others may see You–and choose You. Amen.
