Today’s Promise is John 5:17 CJB:
“But he answered them, ‘My Father has been working until now, and I too am working.‘”
Devotion:
This was Jesus’ response to Judeans who were condemning Him for healing someone on the Sabbath. Which goes to show Jesus may have been 100% man, but He was also 100% God. Psalm 121 says the One who keeps us will never slumber. Isn’t it amazing that our God never needs a good night’s sleep, a nap, or a vacation? Through God’s Spirit, we too have the power to labor in the Spirit without ceasing, though our flesh requires rest. For, even when we are at rest, God is working in and for us. We only have to surrender to Him, and He will do the rest. Rather, He will do the work.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me so much. That even when I have reached my limit and cannot go on, You carry me. Even as I slumber, You are working in me. Be glorified in me, Lord, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
