Today’s Promise is Isaiah 58:8 NKJV:
“Then your light shall break forth like the morning,
Your healing shall spring forth speedily,
And your righteousness shall go before you;
The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.”
Devotion:
I love this verse. However, it is preceded by an “if.” In the verses before it, God tells us that what pleases Him more than fasting from food, is fasting from sin, loosing the bonds of wickedness and oppression, caring for the poor and needy in our midst, and defending the weak. In other words, to be to the world what Jesus would later demonstrate through His life and death. When we are able to love others as Jesus loves us, we will have all that we need, and so much more. Is your light breaking forth?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, saturate me with Your Spirit, in Jesus’ name, and help me live a life that is pleasing to You. Help me to love others as You love them, that all I say and do might glorify You. Amen!
