Today’s Promise is Colossians 1:18 NKJV:
“And He [Jesus] is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.”
Devotion:
If there is any doubt as to who should be in control of any church body, let it end here. The spirit of Jezebel seeks out people who long for control, that through them, it may usurp the authority of Christ, the rightful Head of the Church. But, where Jesus seeks to build up and edify His body, the usurper seeks only to steal, kill, and destroy. The job of leaders in the church is not to control and manipulate the flock for their own gain or glory, but to point the flock to relationship with the Good Shepherd, that they may grow in their giftings and faith, and discover their destiny in Christ.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, engrave Your truth on my heart, in Jesus’ name, and grant me discernment, that I might not be seduced and led astray by the father of all lies. Amen.
