Blessings!
Today’s Promise is Matthew 6:31, 32 NKJV:
“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.”
Devotion:
I was just thinking the other day, how radically my prayer life has changed. I used to have this long to-do list for God. Prayer seemed more like a chore I had to get through than an enjoyable visit I looked forward to. I just had to get through the list, then I could get on with my day. When God called me to a season of prayer, I of course set out with a prescribed list of things that I had to accomplish in my two hours with Him each morning.
Then He began to teach me to let go of my expectations and let Him lead. How different this looks! I’ve learned that what He wants most from me … is me. When my focus is on God, on thanking Him, praising Him, and worshiping Him, I am one with Him. He already knows my heart and what I need, but now I can know His heart. To know what He wants me to pray for, and most importantly, to know He will provide. I love my alone time with my Dad. This is the heart of worship. And this is what He wants with you!
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that You are not a distant God, too busy with work to spend time with me. Thank You for calling me to intimacy with You, that I might know Your heart as You continue to transform me into Your image from glory to glory. Amen.
Have a victorious day in the Lord!
