Blessings!
Today’s Promise is 1 John 3:18 CJB:
“Children, let us love not with words and talk, but with actions and in reality!”
Devotion:
Here’s a question, which of these people truly love: The one who never says the words, “I love you,” but provides good food, shelter, protection, and everything they can to give another the best life possible, or the one who beats, demoralizes, and controls another, all the while telling them they love them?
The fact is, as Christ proved when He went to the cross, love is an action, not a feeling or mere words. Anyone can say, “I love you.” In fact, it’s a phrase that is greatly overused. When you love someone, you do what is in their best interest. That doesn’t mean giving them everything they want, because sometimes we want things that will harm us, spiritually, physically, or mentally, but what they need to live life more abundantly, now and in the age to come.
But there is another we are called to love as well, and that is the Lord. Words don’t mean much to Him, either, as Jesus tells us in John 14:15 CJB, “If you love me, you will keep my commands.”
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, fill me with Your Spirit, in Jesus’ name, that I may be a believer of action and not empty words. Guide and direct my every move, that others may know Your love, and that You may feel the love I have for You! Amen.
Have a victorious day in the Lord!
