Today’s Promise is 1 Corinthians 15:56, 57 NKJV:
“The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Devotion:
We cannot focus on both Jesus and the law. We cannot serve two masters. True faith in Christ sets us free to make Him the center of our lives. This doesn’t mean we no longer have to obey His commands, but that His law lives in us by the Holy Spirit, directing our thoughts and actions. It is not the law that makes us more godly, but Christ in us Who empowers us to live according to His commands. It is not what we do, but who we are–children of the King.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for setting me free from the bondage of sin through Christ Jesus. Help me keep my eyes on Him, in Jesus’ name, letting Him live through me, and not get distracted by trying to earn what You have already paid for. Amen.
