Promise of the Day: Life on the Fringe

Life on the Fringe

Blessings!

Today’s Promise is John 15:19 NIV:

“If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.”

Life on the Fringe

Devotion:

We come into this world craving a place to belong. Because we are in the world, we tend to seek belonging in the world. But, if you have been called out of the world by Christ–and follow that calling–you have become a stranger in a strange land. Don’t look for acceptance in the world, or even in the church, because, more and more, the church seeks to belong to the world. Survival on the fringes depends on an ever growing relationship with the One who walked alone before us. Even Jesus’ closest friends didn’t “get” Him while He was with them. It took the Holy Spirit to reveal the truth to them. In Jesus is the true peace of belonging. And in the Spirit He sent to guide us. Apart from Him there is only emptiness and longing. So, don’t be downhearted that the world hates you. You are greatly loved by the God who created you, and all of His family as well.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, You are all I have in this world. Saturate me with Your Spirit, Lord, in Jesus’ name, that I may feel Your presence and Your comfort every moment of every day, and that I may draw more brothers and sisters in Christ to my side. Amen.

Have a victorious day in the Lord!
