Blessings!
Today’s Promise is John 14:23 NKJV:
“Jesus answered and said to him, ‘If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.’”
Devotion:
This is such a beautiful promise. Judas (not Iscariot) had just asked Jesus how He would manifest Himself to His followers without the world seeing Him. Jesus’ answer was simple. The fullness of God would come and live inside those who truly love Him. His definition of love is living by His commands. Each of us receives a portion of God’s Spirit when we enter into the New Covenant. It is this Spirit that works in us, revealing His hidden truths and convicting us of beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors that go against His commands. The more we submit to the Holy Spirit’s direction, giving up our will for that of our Father’s, the more room we make inside of us to receive more of God. This is the process of sanctification, and it is how we mature spiritually. What Judas didn’t understand was that, with God living fully in us, He would be manifesting Himself to the world. Through us!
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, it’s so easy to say, “I love you.” But, in a world that does not esteem You or Your Commandments, showing my love can be a challenge. I need You, Lord, to keep me on the right path in the face of ridicule, scorn, and rejection. Give me more of You, in Jesus’ name, that I may please You all the more, and show the world what true love is. Amen.
Have a victorious day in the Lord!
